Call For Abstracts


Abstract Submissions should relate to Osteoporosis and/or Fracture Prevention, Diagnosis or Treatment, Bone Densitometry or Body Composition and align with one of the following themes:
  • Central DXA: (DXA, TBS).
  • Non Central DXA: (QCT, pQCT, QUS, pDXA, FEA).
  • Morphometric Measurements: (Body Composition, Vertebral Fracture Recognition, Hip Geometry).
  • Risk Assessment and Epidemiology.
  • Clinical Studies and Observations.
  • Treatment: Osteoporosis and Other Conditions
  • Post Fracture Care
Abstracts will describe original research findings of scientific merit related to osteoporosis and will be presented as posters or oral presentations. Submission of clinical health research abstracts are encouraged, as are abstracts related to skeletal imaging and diagnosis. It is expected that all accepted abstracts will be posted at the Annual Meeting. Accepted abstracts and award winners will be presented as posters and/or oral presentations. Poster presenters must attend the Annual Meeting for the abstract to published in the Journal of Clinical Densitometry.

Abstracts accepted by the Abstract Review Committee and posted at the meeting may be published in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Clinical Densitometry.

Technologists, residents, students, trainees and fellows are encouraged to submit abstracts.

Those invited to present posters will receive specific information regarding these requirements with their acceptance notice. All presenters will be required to register for the meeting. For Abstract Submission Guidelines and Award Submission Guidelines, please refer to

Young Investigator’s Award


You might be eligible for a Young Investigator Award. ALL the following requirements must be met:

  • Awardee must be the first and presenting author of the research.
  • Awardee must be within five (5) years of completion of a Ph.D. or residency training (for M.D., D.D.S., D.O., or their equivalent) OR a Technologist within five (5) years of entering the field or graduating from an approved program.
  • Awardee must be below the age of 40 by 31st December 2019.
  • The awardee must have never been a recipient of an ISCD Young Investigator Award.
  • Awardee must register for the conference and be present by his/her abstract for judges’ evaluation to receive the award.

Qualifications and Eligibility


All authors must adhere to the following when submitting an abstract for ISCD Annual Meeting.

  1. The research described in the abstract complies with the guiding principles for experimental procedures written in the Declaration of Helsinki of the World Medical Association, and the NIH Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, 1985, and refer to the policy established by your Institutional Review Board.
  2. All authors (submitting and contributing) have read the Disclosure Statement (Conflict of Interest) and have made appropriate disclosures by completing and submitting the PDF Disclosure Form. These documents are attached together with the Abstract Template, downloadable below at Abstract Guideline: “Step Two”.
  3. Authors of an abstract describing a study funded by an organization with a proprietary or financial interest must identify the organization and affirm that they had full access to all the data in the study. By doing so, they accept complete responsibility for the integrity of the data and the accuracy of the data analysis.
  4. If the manuscript associated with the abstract has appeared or will appear in print or online, on or before February 28, 2019 the abstract is not eligible for oral presentation and if accepted will be presented for Poster Presentation Only.
  5. The following guidelines apply to previously presented abstracts:-
    • Abstracts presented orally or as a poster at a prior ISCD Annual Meeting may not be submitted for either poster or oral presentation.
    • Abstracts presented (poster or oral) at major U.S. national, and other national and international meetings may not be submitted for an oral presentation at the ISCD 2019 Annual Meeting and should be marked “Poster Presentation Only”.
    • If you have previously presented the material in your abstract at another meeting and aren’t sure about its eligibility for oral presentation at the ISCD 2019 Annual Meeting, please mark “Poster Presentation Only” on the submission form or contact ISCD ( for advice before submitting the abstract.

Abstract Guidelines



Read the abstract guidelines below.

  1. Abstract template can be downloaded at this page. Please make sure you use the template provided.
  2. Abstract must be limited to ONE A4-sized page only
  3. The abstract title should be 200 characters max and the abstract text should be 2,500 characters max. Font size 12, Times New Roman, single spacing and justified fields is the accepted format for abstract submission. Use the abstract template for spacing and organisation of subsections.
  4. Up to 3 figures including graphs and tables, etc. are allowed in each abstract. The font size within the figures must be clearly visible and must not be less than size 10.
  5. All texts and figures/tables must fit within one 2-column page, with 0.75" margin.
  6. The author(s) and institution(s) must be clearly mentioned but will be blinded by the secretariat during the evaluation process.
  7. If the abstract contains identifiers (e.g. name of hospital in the text body), the authors will need to underline them in order for the secretariat to omit them when it is sent for evaluation.
  8. Only abstracts submitted in Microsoft Word file and not more than 2.5MB in size will be considered. Authors are responsible to make sure all the text and figures are visible and formatted correctly for reviewers.
  9. There is no charge for the submission of abstracts and there is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit.
